- John Meredith & Rob Willis in December 1993, [1]. "Jim Napier on the accordion, Max Rees on the keyboard and Horace Beveridge on the mezon accordion, play the calls for sets danced in Victoria Valley, Vic"
- Alan Musgrove in November 2004, [2]. "Jim Napier, born 1921 in Hamilton, Vic. speaks about growing up in the Victoria Valley, 50 years ago; his school days; coming from a family of farmers; leaving school at age 14 to attend to technical school in Stawell for 2 years; after leaving school working on the farm; going to Dunkeld once a week for a dance and concerts; his mother playing piano and peddle organ, his father the button accordion, sister the piano and violin; how he started playing the button accordion for dances during the war time; his war service; the dances mainly played during the war were; how after the war Square dancing took over for awhile; there being no band for the dances, just volunteering and playing all night for four dollars; Red Cross Dances, were held once a week, with a donation of one and six at the door; the traveling man coming around and showing movies at Dunkeld; riding a bike or a horse into town for the nights entertainment; the bullock teams; the forestry in the area; his shearing days when he was able to shear about 100 sheep a day; the community singing."
