The following from Bill Montgomery:
Ray Rose was a singer/guitarist and wrote quite a few songs, which were recorded by Slim Dusty and a couple of other country singers. He ran a country style dance band in central Qld. When he wrote the two waltzes, he could not find a fiddle player in his area so came down to Brisbane and we went into the recording studio. He had them released on a 45 single which got a fair bit of air play in country radio stations until the CDs came out.
"Meeking Rose Waltz". Roy Meeking was a train driver in central Queensland. A Bit of an identity but I Never found out anything about him as to why. He ran coal trains past my in-laws farm. One of my neighbours heard the tune being played on our local station 4KQ in Brisbane and came over to tell me he also ran on the same train line before going to jail. The both of them later landed up in hospital next to each other with cancer. He survived and Meeking did not.
"Waltz Of Memories", I don't think had any story to it.
