Bill Hohn
Bill Hohn and his brother Bert Hohn, Toowoomba, Qld provided details of some of the Australian tunes in this archive, collected by Mark Schuster and Maria Zann.
"Bill Hohn's playing, on mainly double and triple row accordions, was nothing short of brilliant. Terrific rhythm and great cross-rowing with use of chords. His daughters often joined on violin and guitar. Many locals still regard him as a wonderful player." -- Mark Schuster, Jan 07.
"Bill Hohn played 3 row accordion in his family dance band near Pittsworth with daughters Vi on fiddle, and Florrie and Kinny on banjo mandolins. His brothers (including Bert Hohn) and uncles also played. Although he died in 1961, the family taped his tunes. His mastery of the instrument and perfect dance rhythm was astounding." -- "A Queensland Selection", Vol 1, compiled by Maria Zann, collected by Mark Schuster, Pioneer Performer Series, 1992, p38.
Mark Schuster has a disc of tunes "Music of German-Queensland Farmers" he had collected from farmers of German decent in SE Queensland.
