The collection contains 40 tape recordings of folk music, folklore and reminiscences recorded by Mark Rummery and Cathy Rummery, who lived in rural New South Wales in 1983–88. The performers and interviewees lived in Broken Hill, Menindee, Narrandera, Wagga Wagga, Young, Boorowa, Crookwell, Binalong, Bingara, Bungendore and Sofala. Further material from her may be found in the Chris Sullivan Collection. The Cathy Rummery Collection provided details of some of the Australian tunes in this archive.
