Fred Holland
Fred Holland, Mudgee, NSW provided details of some of the Australian tunes in this archive, as described by John Meredith.
"Fred Holland was eighty-eight years old when I recorded in March 1957 and has since died. He lived all his life in the Mudgee district as a bush worker. He played a concertina made by John Stanley, the well-known maker of Bathurst. He had a good repertoire of bush dance tunes, which he has passed on to five of his six sons." -- J Meredith, H Anderson, Folk Songs of Australia Vol 1, UNSW Press, 1967, p227.
"His daughter Rita was married to Reg Kurtz, who played in a bush band called 'Stringybark' that played all the old Holland family music." -- J Meredith, R Covell, P Brown, Folk Songs of Australia Vol 2, UNSW Press, 1987, p205.
There are photos and recordings of him in the National Library of Australia in Canberra, search the NLA catalog for "Fred Holland".
