Les Schultz
Les (Leslie Gustav) Schultz (1902-2003), Temora, NSW provided details of some of the Australian tunes in this archive, as described by John Meredith, and also collected by Rob Willis.
"Les Schultz of Temora is a descendant of one of the original German settlers in that district, in fact a great-grandson ... Les had on loan a lovely old rosewood 'Mezon Grand Organ' accordion, one of the excellent instruments made in Saxony up to about the mid-twenties ... He learnt many tunes from his father ... Great-grandfather Schultz was from Bavaria and possibly this accounted for most of Les's tunes being either waltzes or schottisches." -- (adapted from) J Meredith, R Covell, P Brown, Folk Songs of Australia Vol 2, UNSW Press, 1987, p249.
There are recordings of Les Schulz performs accordion music in the Rob and Olya Willis folklore collection and Les Schulz recorded by Rob Willis in the National Library of Australia in Canberra.
